Why on-device AI matters for private skin images
On-device AI performs image processing on the phone instead of sending every photo to a remote model. For sensitive-looking images, that architectural choice creates a clearer privacy boundary.

Many AI products send an input to a server, wait for a remote model to process it, and return a response. An on-device model instead runs on the phone's own hardware. The image can be analyzed without being uploaded to the app publisher for that calculation.
AI Mole Analyzer uses this approach for visual pattern comparison. The model is packaged for the iPhone and the core comparison can work locally, including when the device is offline.
What remains on your iPhone
Photos selected for comparison, saved scan records, and the visual history you choose to keep are stored locally by the app. They are not uploaded to AS Project for image analysis. You can delete individual records from the app, and deleting the app removes its local data subject to Apple's device and backup behavior.
Local processing also reduces the number of systems that need access to an image. It does not make the phone invulnerable, so normal device protections—such as a passcode, current iOS updates, and careful control of backups—still matter.
On-device AI does not mean “no network activity”
The distinction is important: image analysis stays on the device, but the app also uses analytics and advertising services. Depending on your region, permissions, and consent choices, those providers may process technical, diagnostic, usage, or advertising information. They are not authorized to receive your mole photos or saved analysis records.
You can review the providers, data categories, permissions, and available controls in the AI Mole Analyzer Privacy Policy. Core image analysis does not require permission to track activity across other companies' apps and websites.
Privacy and responsible interpretation
Keeping an image local protects a data boundary; it does not improve the medical meaning of an AI result. Camera quality and visual similarity are not substitutes for a clinician's training, examination, or diagnostic process. Privacy and medical safety are separate requirements, and both deserve clear limits.
